Tips For Getting A Car LoanBuying a new car is a very exciting, happy event. But at the same time, as with any other major expense, it’s better to think everything over in detail before making your purchase.

Of course, when you’re getting ready to buy a car, you are full of emotions and might be inattentive to important things, like getting a car loan. Thus, in order to do everything  properly, let’s consider the process of car buying step by step.

1. First of all you should check your credit report and score, since you probably need a payment loan to buy a car. You need to be sure that everything is correct in your credit report.

There are three major credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. These bureaus gather all the needed information about you, your financial state and your credit payment history, which form the basis of your credit report. Otherwise, you can check your credit report and score online.

2. Then, if your credit is deemed to be good, you can get your payment loan. But here is another problem to take into account: what type of loan to get–long-term or short-term? Which one will make your monthly payments lower?

Many people prefer long-term payment loans as they can lower their monthly payments. But your interest rate may be higher than it would with a short-term loan. So, at the end it will turn out that you have paid much more than the car is worth. Besides, during this period the value of a new car drops quickly.

So, before taking a long-term loan consider some ways to make your monthly payments lower, while keeping your long-term costs down.

  • Get pre-qualified before going to the auto dealer.
  • Find out the true long-term cost of the loan and compare it with a short-term one.
  • Make a large down payment to decrease the cost of the loan.
  • And  most importantly, buy a car that you can afford. Don’t concentrate on just one model as others may offer better value. Do research before going to a dealer, and make sure you’re getting a good deal.
